PtLG asks about the passage of the war, the militarily pointless or inefficient conduct, the lack of maximising of force, etc.

As above, so below - necessary moves, personages (powers?) such as queen, Protector, etc must be in special places at special times to assure the health of the nation, and the expression of that health. Protectors objective to protect the Queen and England from the Evil Councillors, theirs is vice versa. As the two sides are closely balanced neither can afford to give the other advantage by failing to meet target conditions, or allowing the other side to make theirs. (ie Deadly Embrace.)

Get an name of an early march objective, but no details of why or when which she implies is for security reasons - surprisingly practical given most of their attitudes to military matters.
Discuss her powers, with regard to her spotting him on recce, insubstantially. She spotted him easily enough, and as he obviously wasn't hiding, otherwise she may have acted more forcefully.
They discuss the sulphur raid, PtLG persuades her it may be possible without unbalancing things. She agrees to get a Geometer to locate sulphur and someone to prognosticate the balance of forces.
Afterwards Malachi asks Eagle about Geometry - does it involve maps: indeed it does, and he is welcome to see the divinations in person, for few foreigners seem to want to know the truth about England and the Magia, preferring lurid untruth. Despite her openess and welcome Malachi has his suspicions of the witch-woman and her kind. She doesn't seem to do much he feels, so why is she here? It seems to him that likely the League of witches probably really is still running things, despite the casting down of the Church, if the actions of other figures of government are largely symbolic. Who after all, does the interpreting of the symbolic? Further, if the league is not running things but is even split on either side of the conflict is it balanced because they are opposed and evenly matched? Or because they are cooperating to maintain the state of the war for their own ends?
Stark talks to the people about the legends of the land, fishing for information about magic and the Eye of the Sun, but disgustedly reports that the natives seem to believe anything, and even the professionals will believe anything of England that the English believe.
Of the Royal person this army believes her feckless, corrupt and depraved, or at best distracted from affairs of state by an endless succession of entertainments of a most lurid kind provided by her Councillors. Little is known about the symbols of state that comprise the crown jewels. The mercenaries agree it is unusual for a country not to have them, but speculate how the war is financed - more than one prince has pawn his crown for an army after all. The natives are mostly starving ex-peasants and have never seen the Queen, let alone any of her jewels.
